Record group 91-144 consists of the divisional correspondence of the Executive Divsion of the Michigan Department of Natural Resources, for the years 1978-1983 (bulk of material dates 1981). Contains the correspondence files of Director Howard A. Tanner, his executive staff and divisional directors. Includes memoranda, policy statements, and minutes. In addition to the major divisions (e.g. Environmental Enforcement, Parks, Lands, Water Quality), the files document the Natural Resources Commission, Great Lakes Commission, Great Lakes Fishery Commission, and the International Joint Commission (all work toward the conservation of the Great Lakes). Records documenting the Michigan State Fair, which is held in Detroit, date 1978-1981.
